Our exhibition is taking place outside of France for the first time. We are happy, excited, and a little nervous...
Agrigento in Sicily is a city known for its exceptional heritage. Perched atop a hill on the southwest coast of Sicily, Agrigento is known for the ruins of the ancient city of Akragas and for the Valley of the Temples, a vast archaeological site including well-preserved Greek temples.
It is also located opposite Lampedusa, an island in the heart of the Mediterranean, less than 130km from the Tunisian coast. Here, the fates of many migrants fleeing war, poverty, and repression are played out.
A border island, an island of hope.
As migration controls tighten and make exile difficult or even deadly, our presence here in Italy takes on a strong symbolic meaning.
Our aim is to bring a message of solidarity and fraternity to this corner of Europe and the Mediterranean.
We hope that many visitors will come to see Banksy's works, which are a great medium for evoking this humanity that must remain common to all.
Our exhibition, which is free to access, relies primarily on donations from visitors.
