Season's Greetings

The drawing appeared one winter evening in 2018, a few days before Christmas, in this Welsh town of 35,000 inhabitants. "Season's Greetings" depicts a warmly dressed little boy, tongue sticking out, catching snowflakes in his mouth. On closer inspection, these snowflakes look more like ashes from a rubbish fire drawn on the other side of the wall. And for good reason: Port Talbot is home to the largest steelworks in the UK and is considered the most polluted town in the country. In 2022, the garage owner sold the artwork to John Brandler, an art dealer from Essex. Final destination: a secure storage unit in England. The residents of Port Talbot (Wales) naturally regretted the departure of this artwork, considered "a gift from Banksy designed specifically for this extremely polluted area of South Wales."
